First, it’s important to understand what a lost parcel is.

A lost parcel originates from a real order placed by a customer, for example in France. The order is shipped by the seller—often from Asia (yes, China remains the world’s factory)—but the customer never receives it. This can happen for several reasons:

  • The address is incorrect (NPAI: “Does Not Live at the Given Address”)
  • The customer refuses the delivery
  • The carrier makes a mistake (yes, it happens)

In all three cases, the parcel is returned to a logistics center in the customer’s country. It is stored there for 30 days. If no one claims it within that period, companies like Icitatou buy them by the kilo.

Advantages of lost parcels:

  • Brand-new products
  • Often trendy items (currently “in style”)
  • Wide variety (clothing, accessories, tech gadgets, etc.)

What is a mystery box?

A mystery box is a surprise box intentionally created by a seller. The seller knows exactly what is inside—the surprise is only for the customer.

Although a mystery box keeps a playful aspect, the quality of the products is often lower. In most cases, these are overstock or unsold items from large e-commerce platforms. The products may be acceptable, but often outdated or no longer trendy.

That’s why Icitatou makes a clear distinction between the two categories. Many unscrupulous companies blur the line between mystery boxes and lost parcels to sell their unsold stock while benefiting from the “surprise” effect.

With Icitatou, you will never encounter such practices.

All our lost parcels are certified and authentic: real undelivered orders containing new and current products. This is our guarantee of trust to our customers, and we take it seriously.
